i love spam musubi... but you know you can't always find the square mold at your nearest supermarket or even asian stores. well while i was in colorado a few years ago i had this idea about putting it together in the can itself. i'm sure someone else must have thought the same thing... but i decided to put together a photo tutorial for how its done.
making spam musubi... put the nori (seaweed) in the can. make sure it makes a U and touches the bottom of the can so it won't rip when you add the rice.
put rice in...
in goes the spam
insert second row of rice and fold over.
and just slide it out. if it gets stuck pull on the nori a little bit see if it loosens. that was my tutorial for 'how to make spam musubi in a spam can'
best thing to do is to make sure the rice and spam is cooked and cooled or your seaweed will get soggy and hard to handle. also i found that cutting the seaweed sheet in half vertically made it the perfect size to fit in the can. i'll add more tips later because i'm gonna have to make 2 dozen or so of these this weekend for a halloween trunk or treat :D
